Jeff, I know you probably get this question all the time but how often should I have my suits dry cleaned?

Great Website!

Thank you,

Mark

Mark, Thank you for asking and yes I do get this one a lot so it's definitely worth posting. First of all, if your suit is soiled then have it dry cleaned; don't wait for it to get a couple more spots to get your money's worth. Letting it sit can potentially make the stain permanent. Also my dry cleaner said research has found moth larvae's favorite place to eat is a food stain in wool. So don't wait till next season to get your clothing cleaned. Always have it taken care of before storing just in case there is a spot there you cannot see. As far as frequency goes, I usually tell my clients they should have enough dress clothing so they are having things dry cleaned once or twice a year or at most per season. As far as laundering goes, your shirts should be done by professionals, not at home. The spin cycle of your washing machine can beat wrinkles into the fabric no amount of pressing can take out. An average lifespan for a dress shirt is 52 launderings. My clients have told me their custom shirts usually last much longer though. My best, Jeff Collins, Professional Haberdasher
